Every colour

All our split face ledger panels, travertine and marble. Open a colour for photographs of one panel, panels together, and the wall in a room.

Sizes and coverage

A 6 × 24 panel covers one square foot, a 6 × 18 three quarters and a 6 × 12 half, so a wall is quoted by its area alone.

What a split face ledger panel is

A ledger panel is several split face strips bonded into one staggered unit. The staggered ends interlock with the next panel, so the joint between panels disappears into the pattern and the wall reads as stacked stone rather than tiles. It is the fastest way to build a natural stone wall, and the most predictable to quote.

Travertine or marble

Travertine gives a warm, open, slightly porous face in creams, golds and silvers. Marble breaks sharper, with more crystal and contrast, in whites and greys. Both are natural stone all the way through, so a chip shows more stone rather than a grey core.

Natural stone, not manufactured veneer

Manufactured stone veneer is concrete cast in moulds and coloured on the surface; its pattern repeats and its colour can fade. A natural split face ledger panel has no repeat, does not fade, and keeps its value in the building, which is why it is specified for fireplaces, feature walls, hospitality and higher-end homes.

How they are installed

Onto cement backer board, masonry or concrete, never straight onto drywall, with a polymer-modified thin-set mortar on the wall and on the back of each panel. Start at the bottom on a level line, stagger the vertical joints, and seal the stone afterwards, especially outdoors and around fireplaces.

Split face mosaic strips

The same split face stone as loose strips in random lengths, for large walls and facades where panels would repeat.

Questions about split face ledger panels

What is a split face ledger panel?

A panel of natural stone strips with a split, rough face, bonded into one staggered unit so it interlocks with the next panel. It gives the look of a hand-stacked stone wall at the speed of tiling.

How much does one panel cover?

A 6 × 24 inch panel covers 1 sq ft, a 6 × 18 covers 0.75 sq ft and a 6 × 12 covers 0.5 sq ft. Measure the wall, subtract openings and add about 10 percent for cutting.

Are split face ledger panels natural stone?

Ours are: travertine and marble from the Denizli region of Turkey, split on a guillotine. Nothing is cast, moulded or coloured.

Can they be used outdoors?

Yes, on facades, garden walls, outdoor kitchens and around fire pits. In climates with hard frosts, use an exterior-rated mortar and seal the stone so water does not sit in the face and freeze.

Do you sell to importers and distributors?

Yes, that is who we sell to: importers, distributors and stone yards, by the container, with samples first.
